Hivelogic this site take the approach of having the main content column on the right.

With a font foundry you would expect the typography to be top notch and this is what you get here. The design might be “busy” for some, but for me the design sucks in my attention and I just want to explore the site further.

Solid color scheme with a background color that just does its job and hides in the back.

What I Don't Like

Designers have a sick fascination with uber-small font. Go figure.

What I Like

Now didn't I tell you that 3 columns were going to hit big? Just like Hivelogic this site take the approach of having the main content column on the right.

Oh, my redesign needs a third column :) The font in the small columns is hard to read, even if you resize it.

When you say uber, you mean trebuchet, don't you?

Its nice but it breaks with IE 5 on the Mac. I think.

I find this layout very busy...my eyes are drawn towards several places at once - the masthead, the large letter in the left sidebar, the large text midway down in the middle bar, the advert in the left bar all distract from the 'hot news'...it's hard to tell what bit of content I should focus on - my first reaction was actually to lean back away from the screen to try and take it all in.

It's OK but nothing special. With so much potential source material the sky's the limit, surely. Plus it doesn't render correctly in IE 6 (windows).

Thanks to posting Typofonderie.com here! I just realized that on my stats. Interesting because, we just launched a small redesign and now the css are improved a lot normally (?) Some text sizes more bigger now too. Still many details to correct, but the coding structure is better now. And ever better in the next couple of days. Perhaps now each of the three columns have more clear functionnality because of various level of colors. The left one is clearly at general level, when the middle one is related to the page itself in most of the cases.
