Well, this isn't very resolution friendly - even at 1024x768. I don't know - it looks like a good start, but like he got lazy and didn't bother on brushing up on the details.

Sorry, I can't buy this one. I get a scrollbar with 1024x768 maximized - and it's not even like it's content or even some impressive styling that is forcing the width.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback and thanks to James for posting it! I work at 1600x1200 so I didn't even realise the 1024x768 issue until someone pointed it out. I've revised it slightly so there should no longer be a horizontal scrollbar at that resolution. The search background (that 1px oddity that I'm not even sure where it came from) has been fixed along with the one pixel line underneath the arrow (depended on how large the font/buttons where rendering at). What kind of issues are you running into with Safari? I don't have a Mac so I don't really have a way to test it :( Thanks again!

Looks fine on my 1024x768 Not sure I dig the look (color scheme) ... but i love the layout and the arrows, and what I really dig is the stationary comment box... that is sweet ... Besides that .. really great content .. especially the clearing link script... you are one smart dude!

Agree with everyone above that it's just a bit too wide (still is after your adjustments Johnathan). I'm not even complaining for those on 800x600, but I'm on 1024 and on some pages it's ok, on other's one scrollbar appears and lays over the content, and on some pages 2 scrollbars appear, with more content missing. The design is very nice. But wouldn't it be possible to decrease the width a bit (say to 1000px) so there's just a little margin?

ok enough with this style of design - it's already a trend, not a good trend either. Sure this style looks clean and organized but please people, dont let this fool you into thinking it's a nice design (there's not much design going on in case i wasnt clear)

Its a very nice, clean & coherent design IMHO, my only critique would be the resolution issues and the logo in the top left corner looks clickable (why isn’t it?) but its not. Also its not overly friendly to IE but I can live with that, I think once the resolution thing is fixed it will make an excellent site. P.S. Just for the record I have tested it in 800x600, 1024x768 & 1280x1024, & the horizontal scrollbar shows up on all res', PC & Mac. Maybe you have a rouge div or something. Anyway nice work.

well, i looked at the code, snooch is using 7 stylesheets, snook is using 1. there has been a spate of similar comments on css forums recently and they have, in the large majority, been unwarranted. red herrings, wild goose chases, derailment and nothing more. it would be nice to get the discussion back on track. i like snook.ca, a simple site with distinct colours. the commenting set-up has taken me there more than once in the past few days. there's been a lot of talk of it and i can see why. derek at boxofchocolates.ca (he lives round the corner) has also been working on similar. jon snook is an innovative designer and will look forward to seeing more work/experiments. on the downside, the resolution problems, as said, and the niggling little things that do not work in some browsers. that said, it'll maybe iron out... watch this space.
