What I Like
I have said it before and I will say it again. Personality wins.
Designs like this simply get remembered due to their personal feel and how they draw the visitor inside of a different world. The graphics are nice along with the envelope effect. Color scheme fits the bill.
What I Don't Like
All the hard design work seems to be missed with the plain navigation.

Indeed the site does have great personality, feels like you are sitting at the painting desk. I noticed that the paintings seem to blow out of the page and exceed the width of the design. Maybe have it restricted in the design and then have a full screen of the painting. Also the navigation is to the left in my IE. It looks fine in FF. Good job!
