GUI Galaxy, so when one does come around it can be quite refreshing. Aurum uses the obligatory (*cough*) dropshadow effect, which always seems effective with grays. The movie images really help to give the site a personality and the design of the sidebar is special. Overall, it is just a clean site.

What I Don't Like

The search form seems squished and on the subpages the navigation is messed up in Firefox.

What I Like

Sometimes we just don't see enough rounded sites like GUI Galaxy, so when one does come around it can be quite refreshing. Aurum uses the obligatory (*cough*) dropshadow effect, which always seems effective with grays. The movie images really help to give the site a personality and the design of the sidebar is special. Overall, it is just a clean site.

I like the simple lay-out with the trendy rounded drop shadow borders... nice... I kinda dislike the script that prevents users to view the source in IE, got something to hide from us? :-P Lucky Mozilla gave me the source after all... ;-) I don't like it when people try to prevent giving there techniques to other people... shame on you! ;-) Shifty

Heh Shifty. Why is the source hidden from IE? I could see the source in IE. As I have said before the entire site is generated by a content management system MamboServer which is open source :). And I don't think the CMS can hide the source. You just can't see the php codes. Thanks for liking the rounded borders :)

Hm......, I can't see the source code in my IE (6.0) as well. Anyway, I was surprised when I saw the small mambo logo at the bottom of the mainpage, Aurum3, you've done a great job by customized mambo in this way. I have a site running on mambo, and I always want it to be customized not so mambo look. I'd hire you to help me to do that if I have some money. :P

I dont like it, it looks to much like the old cssvault layout with the nav. then the arrow images look stolen

So much for constructive critisism there Dan.... do you have any proof he stole the images? Nobody will take toy serious if you come accross like an ass. Show us how much better you are... let us see some work.

No, guys, don't team up one Dan, he is right on. Alot of this page is a blatant rip! He stole those arrows, not not to mention the css navigation with the bars under it was used elsewhere. Also he uses round corners, which I have seen alot of OTHER places and the same font which I have seen elsewhere. It is blatant rips like this which really anger me!

Before anyone takes it seriously, I am going to state that last post was facetious. I actually really like the movies site. I think it is a clean layout which does not have an overpowering design or art flare. I personally think this is a good thing, it accopmlishes it's goals simply and effectively without distracting the target audience from the content with some kind of uneeded design elements used merely to show off skill.

I have to say that it can be difficult to make a site XHTML when the open source cms is not. There are lots of internal php code changes. I already have done some major changes to make it not use tables. I am waiting for the new version of MAMBO to come out and it will be fully XHTML complient :)

I would get rid of mambo or whatever it is and write the system yourself, I'm just a beginner in php and xml, (not reallly a bigginer at css and xhtml though) and I wrote one in a matter of days, it truly takes no time at all

Thanks Brad we do live in the real world. There are lot of positive features from Mambo and I will not throw it away just because it is not XHTML complient. First of all it is open source CMS and it is supported by lots of developers. Jeff maybe you can point us to your cms so we can have a look. In this real world you need to be more flexible and for me I have to find a balance between CMS and CSS. Don't forget that majority of the user out there is after content.

I like the site a lot - really well done! Just a tipp to see the source in IE (6): This is a problem with the IE Caching. First step is to delete the temporary internet files (may take very long - ist not always necessary). Next step is to reload the page with CTRL + F5. Last step is right click and view source. I don't know why this happens. It is also the same problem with my own CMS. Maybe someone knows how to work arround that? @ CMS These are poor Content management Systems - sorry to say that (don't want to offend those who use it). If they would be well done there should be a real separation from data, programming and the visualization (e.g. via Templates). HTML or any other tags should never be hard coded into the database or the programming logic. The Styling can then be done purely by css - that is the way to go. (i do not only complain like others do - you can visit my page and test it if you want)

sorry about the stolen arrows, should of been "similar"

noticed that problem to Dan....that is defintly something that needs fixing :) other then that..I really like how the Red is used very nicely to contrast with the black and white... I always think red is at difficult color to use...cause if you use it to much it will steal your attention away from the rest of the design...but if you use it just a little it blends nicely with the rest of the design... nice nice :)
